Cases/pouches compatibility with proximity sensor
March 01, 2010 06:48PM
After some testing and research we have determined that some cases/pouches will not allow the proximity sensor to work properly, hence causing unlock even when device inside them (if using the "Proximity" edition or "proximity unlock" on the standard edition).

This is a hardware issue both in the HD2 and TP2. We can’t do anything about it, just inform you to be aware of.

Cases with any of the characteristics below may have proximity sensor issues:

• Case has leather interior (instead of the soft cloth)
- or -
• Case fits too tight making pressure over the proximity sensor area

If you simply store phone in your pocket(without case), make sure none of the above situations can be reproduced inside it. IE, pocket with leather interior, or tight pants, or maybe a leather wallet stored tightly against the phone screen.

If the case/pouch you use is not listed here please share it, so people will know which cases are safe to use with this automatic unlocking feature.

How to test?
- Turn off device (single press to power button)
- Put device inside its case.
- Press the power on button.
- If it unlocks then it is NOT compatible. If it remains locked then it is good.
- Repeat several times

Put the following information:
Compatible with proximity sensor: [YES/NO]
Device model: [your device model]
Case/pouch brand: [your pouch brand]
[your pouch picture]
Comments: [any additional info you might want to share]

Regards,

JDB
